Aloha, Ohana — Welcome to The Purple Tiki
The heart and soul of our quiet little island — where time slows down, the breeze carries the scent of plumeria and coconut, and every sunset is toasted with a perfectly mixed drink.
🌴 The Legend of the Quiet Little Island & The Purple Tiki
Nestled far from the noise of the modern world, a quiet little island floats in the vast and shimmering sea. No one knows who first arrived - but when settlers came ashore centuries ago, they found a towering Purple Tiki standing silently among the palms. No signs of earlier inhabitants. No carvings or clues. Just a massive violet totem, glowing in moonlight like a sentinel from beyond.
Some say it watches. Others say it listens. A few believe it remembers.
🍹 The Purple Tiki Lounge & Its Founding Family
The earliest settlers built simple homes along the sun-kissed coast, drawn by the island’s beauty and its strange, humming serenity. One family built the first house just steps from the sea. Over time, it became a gathering place — alive with music, laughter, and stories traded like seashells.
Eventually, it transformed into The Purple Tiki Lounge — the island’s only cabana for cocktails, coconut cake, and nightly entertainment.
The lounge still stands on its original foundation, with the ancient tiki just down a winding path, watching the waves… and listening.
Because somewhere along the way, the island started broadcasting back.
From a hidden corner just off the main stage - tucked between glowing lanterns and a door that doesn’t always appear in the same place twice - sits the Sound Garden Studio.
This is where Velvet Umbrella Radio was born.
Today, DJ Tea (also known as Celeste Violet… and to some, Tiki Tea) carries on the family legacy - but the signal is no longer hers alone.
She’s joined by Mickey Fingers - the architect of late-night transmissions and keeper of the deeper corridors - and Mr. Announcer Man (also known as DJ Lava Lamp), who keeps one foot in reality… just enough to keep the signal grounded.
Together, they broadcast across multiple frequencies from this tiny island that shouldn’t exist on any map.
By day, Eclectic Wonderland drifts across the airwaves - a kaleidoscope of sound, story, and strange familiar places. By night, the signal shifts.
Velvet Umbrella Radio opens the deeper doors - where the music lingers longer, the rooms stretch further, and the rules loosen their grip.
Within it lives a Three currents:
Eclectic Wonderland & After Hour - the broadcast versions, carried gently across the airwaves (WDRT), where beauty and shadow dance just inside the lines.
Petals & Hooks - the unfiltered transmissions (Mixcloud only), where the corridors don’t end, the clocks don’t work… and if you’re still listening, you probably weren’t meant to leave.
All of it…
originating from a cabana by the sea,
a family that built something meant to gather people,
and a signal that decided to become something more.
Some say the ancient tiki hears every broadcast.
Some say it answers.
🪩 A Haven for Locals, Listeners & Legendary Creators
The Purple Tiki Lounge is more than a beach bar. It’s a sanctuary for wanderers and wayfarers, old souls and oddballs, rock stars and romantics. Travelers come seeking sunshine and stay for the stories. Locals treat it like a second living room. And beneath the thatched roof, magic is still made.
Velvet Umbrella Records & Velvet Umbrella Records
Tucked into a nearby cove - just beyond the reach of the main shoreline and visible only when the light hits right - sits Velvet Umbrella Radio.
A wild little station built from driftwood, signal ghosts, and half-finished dreams…
where mixtapes are born, stories slip between frequencies, and glitter occasionally explodes for no documented reason.
Broadcasting from a hidden studio wrapped in wires, lantern glow, and late-night energy, the station sends its signal far beyond the island - though no one’s entirely sure how far, or who’s really listening.
Some say if you tune in at the right moment… it tunes back.
From this strange and humming place emerged Velvet Umbrella Records - the island’s signature label and creative collective.
Co-founded by Celeste Violet and Mickey Fingers, the label exists as both a sanctuary and a launch point - a space where music, story, and shadow are shaped into something tangible.
Together, Velvet Umbrella Radio and Velvet Umbrella Records form a living system:
📻 A place where sound is discovered, curated, and broadcast
🎙️ A stage where voices are given form and frequency
🎭 A workshop where stories are stitched, scored, and set loose into the world
Their mission?
To create art that heals, stirs, stings, and sings -
and to amplify the voices of those rising from the ashes, carrying stories that refuse to stay buried.
Because on this island…
music isn’t just played.
It’s released.
🎶 Introducing Gala Violet
Gala Violet is one of the house bands of the island - a theatrical, genre-blurring musical act woven directly into the fabric of Velvet Umbrella Records.
Born from late-night sessions at Velvet Umbrella Radio, their sound drifts between frequencies - part broadcast, part séance, part confession caught on tape.
Known for storytelling albums like Masquerade of Shadows and Gifts from the Sirens, Gala Violet moves through velvet cabaret, post-punk shimmer, and haunted lullabies - where every track feels like a door, and every lyric knows more than it’s saying.
Their work is shaped by dream journals, shadow work, strange transmissions, and the kind of kitchen dances that happen when no one’s watching… or when something is.
Led by Celeste Violet and Mickey Fingers, Gala Violet exists somewhere between performance and possession - where music isn’t just written, but uncovered.
You’ll hear them everywhere on the island:
🌴 drifting through the trees at dusk
📻 woven into the daily broadcasts of Velvet Umbrella Radio
🌀 spinning endlessly through the vortex for those who wander too far (or just far enough)
Because here…
some songs aren’t released.
They’re summoned.
🏝️ The People of the Island
The island may look quiet from a distance…
but step a little closer, and you’ll start to notice - it’s very much inhabited.
Not crowded.
Just… curated.
Here are a few of the regulars:
Mickey Fingers – Resident mischief-maker, late-night architect, and shapeshifter of sound.
A co-creative force behind Velvet Umbrella Radio, Velvet Umbrella Records, and Gala Violet, he moves easily between broadcast and backroom, myth and moment.
Some say he understands the deeper structure of the island - the doors, the corridors, the things that don’t quite behave.
Often found at the lounge piano after hours… or somewhere near the signal, adjusting something no one else can see.
Beachfront Vinny – Lounge musician, comic emcee, and professional good-time instigator.
Armed with a ukulele, a perfectly timed martini, and an ever-expanding archive of bad (and occasionally brilliant) puns, Vinny keeps the main stage warm and the crowd just slightly off-balance.
If there’s laughter echoing across the beach… he’s probably nearby.
The Mischievous Squirrels -
Possibly sentient.
Possibly employed.
Definitely unionizing.
They appear where snacks are unattended, props go missing, or something important needs to be slightly rearranged.
No official records exist… but they’ve been seen near the studio wiring more than once.
The Guardians –
Strange, glowing figures that drift just beyond the edges of the vortex.
They don’t speak.
They don’t interfere.
They watch.
Theories range from ancient protectors… to signal keepers… to interdimensional tourists who simply never left.
No one has confirmed anything.
No one has asked twice.
And of course… there are others.
Some passing through.
Some who stayed.
Some who only appear when the music hits a certain frequency.
If you spend enough time on the island…
you’ll start to recognize them.
- or realize they’ve been recognizing you.
🗿 The Artifacts of the Island
No trip is complete without a peek at the legendary curios in the Purple Tiki’s corner cabinet:
• A purple genie bottle that whispers when held to your ear.
• A mermaid skeleton, no larger than a cat, discovered in a tide pool at midnight.
• A pirate’s compass that never points north - only toward the next great mystery.
(Currently missing… last seen heading toward the vortex.)
🌀 The Mystical Vortex & The Path to Eclectic Wonderland
Past the tiki, deep in the trees, lies a glowing portal - a swirling phenomenon that pulses with strange frequencies and possibility. No one can explain it, but all agree: those who walk through return changed.
This vortex inspired Eclectic Wonderland — DJ Tea’s (Celeste Violet) weekly transmission of music, musings, and the surreal. Many believe the show exists in two places at once:
on island time… and in your dreams.
🌺 The Menu
In keeping with island tradition (and the family’s legacy of celiac resilience),
everything at the lounge is gluten-free and made with aloha. From
coconut cream pie to spicy mango tacos, it’s a menu designed to nourish
the soul and delight the senses - no substitutions needed.
The Mystery Lives On…
To this day, no one knows who carved the Purple Tiki or
what secrets lie beneath the sand.
Some believe it’s a beacon. Others say it’s
a warning. But one truth remains:
This island, its vortex, its soundtrack, and its tiki — they welcome you.
So kick off your shoes.
Sip something strong.
And stay awhile.
After all…
Reality can wait.
